The tower of a fortress on the sheild- it is the ancient arms of Yuryevets. It had been expressing the town's trade of war during one century.

Its first arms Yuryev-Povolsky has received from the moment of the foundation. The horseman in armour piercing the dragon by his lance was depicted over the gates of its fortress. It is noble and stately image of Georgy Pobedonosets, which has appeared in the arms of Moscow after victory on Kulikovo field.

The entrance tower of the fortress is on the shield, it is the ancient arms of Yuryevets. Out of respect for antiquity and servicies in battle of Yuryevets- Povolsky its arms was not changed then, when Yekaterina II brought in the rule to depict in upper part of the heraldical shield the province arms. The first arms Yuryevets-Povolsky has received from the moment of the foundation. Over the gates of its fortress a rider in battle armor, piercing the dragon by his lance was depicted. It was the noble image of Georgy Pobedonosets, which has appeared in the arms of Moscow after Dmitry Donskoy victory on Kulikovo pole.
